This is a significant moment in my life. I am writing my first blog. Consulting a few dictionaries I found out a blog is a new word created just for the web. It can be likened to a journal, op-ed piece, anything you find interesting that usually involves an opinion. I have written many of my thoughts and had them in a newspaper, church bulletin, or sent to friends and family. But since I have never posted it online, this is officially my first blog.
In May my first grandchild(son) will be two years old. He has a blog already. His name is Tobin so his is called “Toblog”. That is really clever. I wonder if he suggested that to his parents or they sort of named it for him since he couldn’t use language at the time it was created. He is smarter than any child I know but I am going with the parents alone for now.
So for my first blog you will simply learn some things that are important to me like, grandson and family, but there are others.
Today is one day from the Florida primary so I will tell you that voting is very important to me. I will vote in the Republican primary and consider voting a priviledge and responsibility. I have been voting republican for a while because of one main issue… abortion. That is another thing important to me. I feel like I am living during the time (1759-1833) of William Wilberforce in England. The British empire believed in slavery. Wilberforce was a devout Christian who for 18 years brought anti-slavery motions to the parliment. In 1807 they passed a motion to stop selling new slaves but all the other slaves were still legal. It was the best they could do. I parallel that to the limits we have passed on abortions but not outlaw them. Wilberforce continued to bring motions to end slavery entirely. That happened just before his death in 1833. So you see it took Wilberforce 44 years of work to stop the evil of slavery. Today, it has been 35 years since we made murdering babies in the womb legal. I am voting tomorrow for a leader who can help our country and government to see the evil in our slaughter of over 50 million babies, I could hardly type that number much less concieve of it.
So all that I want to say today is, vote this year and always. We do need good people in government who understand the issue of abortion and are willing to lead the fight against it.
